3rd Advanced Workshop in Digestive Surgery: From LAP to Single Port Surgery

Course Objectives

This workshop is a comprehensive review of the essentials in laparoscopic surgery procedures. This 3-day advanced course involves detailed lectures on important surgical digestive diseases such as GERD, achalesia, obesity, liver tumour and the role of the minimally invasive approach in each scenario. There will be live demonstrations by our panel of world experts utilizing the most modern technology. Furthermore, hands-on live tissue training under the guidance and supervision of a highly competent faculty will provide each participant with an indispensable experience vital to the enhancement of basic techniques and the acquisition of advanced surgical skills.

Aims:

  • Understand the indications as well as contraindications of
    laparoscopic surgery on various digestive diseases;
  • Improve hand skills and techniques including stapling and intracorporeal
    suturing;
  • Be able to perform advanced digestive procedures.

Who Should Attend

Highly recommended for practicing general surgeons and advanced laparoscopic trainees who wish to progress from basic laparoscopic surgery to advanced minimally invasive digestive procedures.

AFTERNOON SESSION: LIVE SURGERY

 

Day 2: Upper GI Surgery for Benign Disease

  • Surgery for GERD: Where are we today?
  • MIS for Achalasia
  • Medical Management of Obesity
  • Obesity Surgery: from Band to Bilio-pancreatic bypass

AFTERNOON SESSION: HANDS-ON TRAINING

  • Gastic Banding
  • Lap Fundoplication
  • Sleeve Gastrectomy

Day 3:Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery

 

MORNING SESSION: LECTURES

  • How to Approach Difficult Gallbladder
  • Laparoscopic Surgery in Biliary Disease
  • Laparoscopic Liver Resection: indication & limit
  • Laparoscopic Liver Resection: technique and results
  • Laparoscopic Splenectomy
  • Laparoscopic Pancreatic Surgery
